Welcome to Feather & Flame! I’m working on a bunch of projects!
One is breeding well-tempered, strong laying, foraging specialist Welsh Harlequin ducks. They need to retain their auto-sexing traits at hatch, have proper feather coloring, and have good conformation. They need to be good egg layers and have an enjoyable temperament. I am really happy with my flock, but we are always looking to improve!
Another Project is breeding Standard and Jumbo Coturnix Quail. I have two subprojects there. 😉 I have a covey of standard coturnix quail that are unique and unusual colors. The are constantly evolving and are laying currently. I am also raising a covey of jumbo celadon coturnix quail. The jumbo celadon quail should mature around the new year (2026!) and hopefully will begin laying soon thereafter. With all of my coturnix quail I am looking for good temperament, correct conformation and prolific egg laying. From there I branch out to the two groups, standard quail in crazy colors and jumbo quail that lay celadon eggs. The jumbo celadons I have are ‘true blue’ celadons, meaning they lay blue eggs 100% of the time. They will be kept in their own covey to retain the celadon trait and remain ‘true blue’.
I have chicken, quail, and duck eggs available; I also have quail and duck hatching eggs. The ducks are currently in a hard molt and regrowing feathers, so they have paused laying eggs for now. But I expect them to pick back up soon.
I try to get out as much as I can and video and photograph the boat traffic and wildlife on the Hudson River. I have a calendar available with my pictures of the year from the river. There are a few available, contact me if you’re interested! If you're looking for drone photography and/or videography reach out, maybe I can help!
